ABOUT US

Salt is one of the most common substances found in nature and salt therapy, also known as halo therapy, has been known and used for its healing properties for millennia. Different forms of halo therapy, as an alternative and complementary medicine, are currently practiced especially in the Eastern Europe, where dozens of people are choosing every day, regardless of season, the treatment of respiratory diseases in artificial salt caves.

We strongly believe that people should benefit from the healing power of salt. Having this in mind, we decided to bring this wonderful experience to the south of England.

HEALAX Salt Caves is located in Bournemouth, Dorset, 2 Wonderholme Parade, Kinson Road BH10 4DQ and we are happy to welcome you, every day for therapy sessions as well as relaxation.

Halotherapy
A session of salt therapy in the salt cave takes about 30-60 minutes. You can spend this time reading, listening to music, playing chess or cards, or simply enjoying your time. Every weekend we'll invite you, via our Facebook page, to be part of our events.

Salt water hydrotherapy

OUR SALT CAVE

Our salt chamber

The salt chamber uses blocks of natural salt extracted and imported from ancient Transylvanian salt mines which help create a natural salt micro-climate and a release of negative ions. Each surface, walls and the floor, is covered with natural salt to ensure a pure, antibacterial micro-climate.

The walls
The walls are stacked with 26 tons of salt blocks. We selected this type of salt because we wanted to provide the highest salinity possible that can be found among different types of salt rooms. The walls are decorated with LED lighting to create a beautiful glow and a relaxing environment.

The floor
The floor is covered with coarse salt, creating a sandy beach effect.

The salt particles
The microscopic salt particles found in this environment, get into the respiratory system and help reduce inflammation, allergens and excess mucous.

The negative ions
The negative ions usually found in natural environments like near the ocean, at waterfalls, rivers and deep in forests, are known to give a sense of wellness and to reduce stress.

The air
The air you breathe inside the cave is clean, free of allergens, saturated in negative ions and with a very high salinity.

The salt cave is open to everyone, adults and children as well, for whom we have built a playground, so that they can enjoy their time here.

HEALTH BENEFITS

HEALING BENEFITS OF HALOTHERAPY

Halotherapy is frequently used, especially in Eastern Europe, as an alternative and complementary treatment for respiratory diseases. It is also a very good way to relax, to eliminate daily stress, and to meditate.

For best results, it is recommended that therapy sessions are conducted for 15 consecutive days. Regardless of the chosen therapy, with aerosols or from natural or artificial salt mines, "any treatment facility is an adjunct to basic medication, which exists for obstructive diseases", Dr. phd. Florin Mih?l?an - President of the Romanian society of Pneumology. Salt therapy is used to treat upper respiratory diseases such as cold, flu, allergies, asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, sinusitis, rhinitis, hay fever and emphysema. In addition, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of salt have been shown to effectively treat skin infections such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.

Medical Researches
”After the specific Halotherapy treatment on patients with bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive bronchopneumopathy, which also showed other chronic, infectious-inflammatory and allergic respiratory pathologies, triggering of anti-inflammatory (and also anti allergic) mechanisms and the healing effects on inflammatory process were noted. Data acquired also proved the Halo therapeutic effect causing the reduction of sensitiveness of the body in patients with bronchial asthma.” - Lazarescu H, Simionca I, Hoteteu M, Munteanu A, Rizea I, Iliuta A, Dumitrascu D, Dumitrescu E. - National Institute of Rehabilitation, Physical Medicine and Balneoclimatology, Bucharest, Romania. The Jacuzzi consists of a cylindrical tub with internal perimeter benches and is built of Siberian spruce wood, specially designed for salt water therapy.

Hydromassage system - a hydromassage pump that circulates water through several underwater jets that offer hydrotherapeutic relaxation
Underwater multicolour lamp system with chromotherapeutic effect.
Water filtration and heating system that uses a quartz sand filter, water recirculation pump, and an electric titanium heater, and provides a hot, clear and clean pool.

HYDROTHERAPY
The therapeutic use of water has been recorded in ancient civilizations. The wellness factors are thermal, mechanical and chemical.
? The water temperature used in hydrotherapy is between 38°C and 40°C. For a very relaxing effect, the water can also be used at a normal temperature of 35°C -37°C (the normal body temperature range), the body has neither a cold sensation nor a hot sensation.
? The mechanical factors are, the hydrostatic pressure, which means the pressure exerted by the water on the body. The hydrostatic pressure is even higher as the water depth is increased, the saline concentration is increased or the deeper the body sinks.
? The chemical agents are represented by different substances in saline solutions, e.g. Sodium Chloride, Iodine, etc., with a very good therapeutic effect.

Health benefits
? detoxifying the body and the removal of the effects of various toxic chemicals
? improves blood circulation (both central and peripheral)
? reduces mental and emotional stress
? remineralises and rehydrates the body
? restores skin tissues
? acts to restore muscle elasticity and muscle tone
